Custom Dance Floor Wraps in Richmond, VA: What to Expect From Design to Install
Wedding and event trends usually reach New York, Atlanta, California, Florida, and the DC area long before they reach Central Virginia. Dance floor wraps were no exception.
I first noticed floor wraps on social media and in magazines, and I loved what I saw in magazines and on social media. Then I looked for someone in Richmond who offered them and found no one. Getting a wrap here meant hiring a vendor from Maryland or North Carolina. So I trained to learn it properly, came home, and started offering it.
Then came explaining it. I spent countless hours going venue to venue and planner to planner. People stopped to watch our installs, and plenty of them filmed us. Laying vinyl, it turns out, makes good content. More providers offer wraps now, which is what happens when a trend works. I'm one of the first in the Richmond area, and I still get asked, "What exactly is a floor wrap?"
What is a dance floor wrap?
A dance floor wrap (also called a custom floor decal or temporary floor graphics) is custom-printed vinyl applied to your dance floor for your event. It can be a monogram, a pattern, a full-color print, or a logo. It's made to stay down for the event and come up afterward.
Why the floor?
The dance floor is where most of your professional photos happen: the first dance, the parent dances, the reception. The florals, linens, and lighting set the mood. The floor makes it yours: a monogram, pattern, or print no other couple will have. It says this room is for this couple, on this night.

At one wedding, the couple kept the rest of the decor simple and made the floor their statement piece. Walking in, we weren't sure how the room would read. Then the wrap went down and it went from simple to wow. The couple's parents called relatives over to see it.
If the budget has to stretch, a floor can carry a simple room.
What can go on a wrap?
Monograms and dates. Borders. Patterns. Full-color prints, like florals, marble, checkerboard, or a night sky. Corporate clients can wrap a logo. We also wrap stages, stairs, elevators, walls, pillars, seating charts, and welcome signs.
How it works, start to finish
Tell us your vision. Colors, theme, monogram, mood. If you already have a design, send it as a PDF. If you don't, we'll design it for a flat fee.
We ask the practical questions. Floor dimensions, floor type, your dates, and whether you'd like us to come back and remove it.
You get a quote. You'll know the full price before you commit. A first payment of 50% secures your date, and events within two weeks are paid in full. The balance is due when you approve the final design, which we need at least 14 days before your event.
We design options. We present them, you choose or tell us what to change, and we refine the design with you until you approve it.
We print with your approval. Nothing goes to print until you've signed off on the final design.
We install. Where the venue allows, we prefer to install the night before. On site, you or your planner shows us the area and direction. We check that the surface is right for vinyl, then we install. Before we leave, we send you a photo of the finished floor to approve.
Removal is your choice. Book it and we come back to take the wrap up. If you'd rather handle it yourself or with your venue, we'll walk you through how.
Install time depends on the size and scope of your floor. Some designs need more than one layer.
How far ahead should I book?
As soon as your date is set. Short-notice events are possible, and anything within two weeks is paid in full, so ask.
Will it work in my venue?
We install directly on the venue's floor when it's smooth, non-porous, and the venue allows vinyl. When it isn't, we apply the wrap to a dance floor or subfloor instead, which is an added cost. Most clients rent one from their venue or a rental company, and in some cases we can provide it.
Will it damage my venue's floor?
That's a fair question, and it's the one venues ask too.
Not all vinyl is made for the same job. The vinyl that marked social distancing on store floors during COVID was made to be walked on and mopped for months. Event vinyl is made to hold for a night or two and to be removed afterward. When the wrong product goes on the wrong floor, print quality suffers, bubbles form, and removal gets harder than it should be. Some venues have tightened their rules on vinyl.
Here's how we approach it. We use vinyl made for temporary events. We install only where the venue allows it, and when a floor calls for it, we test a small area first. We time install and removal so the vinyl isn't down longer than it needs to be. And we're insured. If your venue has a policy on vinyl, tell us early and we'll work within it.
What affects the cost?
Every wrap is quoted individually, and you'll have a clear quote before you commit. What moves it:
the size of the floor
the design, and whether we're creating it
the floor type, and whether you need a subfloor
install timing and venue access
whether you want removal
